1) Barcelona Restaurant & Wine Bar
Barcelona’s flagship restaurant and bar in SoNo has been around for 17 years and is still enormously popular with everyone from trendy 20-somethings to the moms-night-out crowd. Anchored on the corner of Ann Street and North Main Street, the bar/restaurant’s huge windows give passersby a chance to gawp at the food and fun in the 140-seat joint, which started out as a tapas bar with room for just 30 customers. In addition to SoNo, the Barcelona group now has restaurants in four other Fairfield County locations and West Hartford. In October, Barcelona opened its seventh outpost in Atlanta, Georgia (where two of the top bosses have connections) and later this year it will offer its tantalizing menu in Boston. As for the goings-on closer to home, the Fairfield restaurant, located in the Hi Ho Motel, reopened in May following a renovation and the Stamford and Greenwich restaurants have begun serving Sunday brunches.
