Where is the cocktail scene headed next?

I feel New England is growing as a whole and there will be a surge of micro-breweries. I think bars will carry more unique beers and really change it up. Martinis are huge and I don't see that trend dying but only getting more creative with the flavors.

How do you approach bartending?

I am a conversationalist; I am not a mixologist. I make the drinks people ask me to make. I love talking to people and because this is a local bar you realize how small the world is. I majored in psychology, so this job is perfect for me.

What was the largest bar tab you've encountered? What were they drinking?

Four-hundred and fifty dollars' worth of beer and shots at Coach's. It was a group of 12 guys, which isn't really that much money when you think about it. They came in to watch the UConn game and they stayed for the whole game.

What's something unique about your customers?

We don't have one specific group or demographic here. There are 20-somethings, 50-somethings, professionals, and each person is unique and has their own story. I never really know what each shift will bring because it's very unpredictable.
