What's the bar scene like in downtown Hartford?
It's not just for locals anymore. Don't get me wrong, we have a lot of locals who frequent Arch Street but we get a lot of business from the Convention Center and the Marriott because we are so close in proximity.
Who spends more money on drinks? Who buys what?
Businessmen who are entertaining people after work spend more money. They buy mixed drinks and appetizers. Men usually pick up the check first.
What cocktail trends would you like to see die?
I'm not a big fan of Jagerbombs, although a lot of people order them. I just don't like them. They remind me of cough drops.
How has bartending changed in the last 15 years?
Fifteen years ago, people either ordered beer, a shot or a common cocktail. Now, there are so many different types of drinks. Back in the day, martinis were only vodka or gin. People got creative in the last 15 years. I like it because I like to try new things and want others to try new drinks as well.
