How has the bar/restaurant industry been affected by the weather this year?
It made business better for us because we were one of the only places in the area that was open and so we got people from surrounding towns to come in. During Irene we lost power but we have a generator so we still had great business. CL&P is down the road so we fed them during both storms.
What were people drinking during the power outages?
There was a lot of liquor flowing, that's for sure, especially hard liquor. But actually during that time customers who came in were very relieved and relaxed because they had a warm, comfortable place to be.
What types of alcohol keeps during a power outage?
Well … beer kegs should be dumped. White wines that are open should be thrown away.
What's the most popular song played on the jukebox?
Rolling Stones’ “Beast of Burden.” The average age of our regular customers is 40 to 50. People play a lot of Grateful Dead too.
