What's the best drink you've had recently?

My fellow bartender Nicole makes a good pineapple upside-down-cake martini. It's got a sweet taste, but without the feeling that you're losing your teeth. It tastes like cake; it's dangerous because you don't realize that what you're drinking has alcohol in it.

Hair of the dog?

I think it's postponing the inevitable because eventually you have to deal with it. I would rather not keep drinking, because you get to the point where you never want to drink again. It's funny; some people never learn. Working weekend day shifts I see people come in wearing sunglasses asking for either a bloody Mary or something strong with orange juice.

What's the worst night of the year to work?

I would say New Year's eve, because it's so hit-or-miss. This past year it was dead, but a year ago we were slammed. I personally would rather be out celebrating and having someone wait on me.

Most memorable regular?

It would have to be Del. When I was learning to bartend and mix drinks he was my guinea pig. He would try anything I made; he didn't care and he would pay for it. He's a great guy. Everyone in town knows him, and he's British, so people love talking with him.
