What's the busiest day of the year and the busiest day of the week?
The busiest day of the year is the first day we open our rooftop bar. This is usually the first really nice day in the beginning of the summer. The busiest day of the week is Friday and it starts at happy hour. That time sets the tone for the night.
What's the most exotic liquor you have?
We started using elderflower and rosewater in our drinks. We add just a little bit to our Sidecar martini and it gives it a nice aroma and sudden sweetness. We also have Maraschino liquor which we use in our Hemingway daiquiri.
What's the strangest drink you ever had to make for someone?
A woman asked me to make her a drink that had Jameson, cranberry juice and a splash of sour mix.
What is the biggest misconception about bartenders?
I don't think people view bartending as a real career. But I think it's a great career because it keeps you moving around constantly, so you get fit. It keeps you social and interacting with a lot of different people. And you make very good money. But I guess that this does depend on the type of bar you work at.
