Do you know any bar tricks?
Yes, although I'm not a firm believer in flair. I do believe, however, that each bartender needs to bring something unique to the table. I do a made-to-order Grand Marnier, which I make and light on fire as I mix it together. I do this a couple times a week for my bar guests, but the problem is that I get burned sometimes and therefore I'm out of commission [on lighting drinks on fire] for a while.
What type of alcohol do you think is best to cook with?
Me personally, I do a lot of barbecuing, so I love to use whiskey. But our chef has introduced me to cooking with ports and sherry and I'm becoming a fan.
What's the weirdest thing you've found in the bathroom at the end of the night?
[NFL football player] Andre Rison's sunglasses. He was in a bar I used to work at and was seen wearing them. They were a very nice set, a brand name. I can't believe nobody picked them up. The other bartender got to keep them and still has them.
