Most shoreline residents associate Madison with sandy beaches, kempt lawns, and golf and tennis clubs. It wasn't always this way, though. The Business of Leisure: Madison Welcomes its Summer Colony traces the evolution of this small town. Sponsored by the Madison Historical Society, the exhibit reveals the town's transformation from a struggling community with a shrinking population to a destination for summer tourism. The exhibit includes period photos and artifacts that give a glimpse into the life of Madison residents in the late 19th century.
