Hartford's Clare Gallery focuses on art dealing with religious themes (it's in a church). And perhaps no recent disaster generated a greater response from faith-based communities than the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Artist Dianne G. Coyle, working from photographs taken by her friend Kyn Tolson, captured the anguish and perseverance of the Haitian people (that's her "Joy," pictured) while crafting unique, vivid backgrounds. Head to the reception on Aug. 10, where she and Tolson will discuss their creative processes.
