Avon's Farmington Valley Arts Center (FVAC) gets a whole new bunch of art on their walls this month, as two new exhibitions — The Evident and the Essence and Alfresco — open simultaneously, with a joint opening reception on Aug. 4. The Evident is a joint affair between Southington artists Eric Stegmaier and Sean Michanczyk, who cull two dozen, mood-based realistic works, including Stegmaier's "The Unveiling" (oil on panel, pictured). Alfresco pulls together impressionistic food paintings by Farmington artist Nolan Lombardi, whose paintings hang in the White House and the Smithsonian. (Lombardi won't be at the reception, but the other two artists will.)
