Artist Gregory Wright uses an ancient, beeswax-based form of painting known as "encaustic" to capture his vision(s) of the complexity and splendour of the universe. The Avon-based Farmington Valley Art Center will hang Wright's creations (including "Reaching For a Certain Outcome," pictured) until April 13, which will coincide with classes taught by the master of encaustic himself (April 13-14, $400; visit artsfvac.org for details. It may be one of the few art classes you'll take that promises a substantial discussion of "safety practices.") Meet the artist and discuss his work at a reception on April 12.
