Real Art Ways in Hartford Examines Fungus as an Artistic Medium
Artist Phil Ross and Connecticut based mycologist Connie Borodenko will mediate a conversation about fungus (see above) as an artistic medium and sustainable architecture at Real Art Ways on March 16. Borodenko is an expert in mycology (the scientific study of fungi) and Ross specializes in art driven by a longtime love of biology. They'll discuss fungi's role in art, and the ways it can be adapted as an architectural medium. Fungal art is a slow, time-consuming process that requires strict environmental regulation and countless hours of experimentation. The results are stunningly well-crafted objects that are very much alive with energy. Free, open to all ages. — Chris Burns
