Three Great New Openings at UConn's Benton Museum

The state's art museum/gallery scene seems to be heating up these days. UConn's Benton Museum keeps pace this spring, with three new exhibits that draw on their deep reserves of 18th-century works on Classical themes ("These Groves Were Once the Home of Fauns and Nymphs"), European and 19th-century American art (Director's Cut, with works chosen by interim director and curator Thomas P. Bruhn) and early 20th-century paintings and works on paper (Millionaires and Mechanics, Bootleggers and Flappers: Speaking of "The Great Gatsby," featuring Everett Shinn's 1909 oil-on-board The Dancer, pictured).
