A Path to Color at Amy Simon Fine Art in Westport

Based on color theories proposed by Matisse, artist Daru-Jung Hyang Kim has created a series of paintings in which each work is dominated by a singular color that provokes a unique emotive quality. Often there's a variation of circles with circles, decorative patterns against a landscape that are reminiscent of the chi in nature. Traces of erasure marks or charcoal smudging have been intentionally life in to reflect the imperfections inherent in the real world. The show is called A Path to Color and it's on exhibit at Amy Simon Fine Art right on through until the start of winter, when the world becomes painfully devoid of color.
