1st) La Cuisine Market Cafe & Catering
La Cuisine has been in business for more than 30 years running. It all started in a cottage in Branford, where owner Ben Bloom began baking cakes from scratch. Nowadays, La Cuisine is much more than just cake. The company employs more than 200 people in total — at their market, in their bakery and for their off-site catering enterprise. The bakery prepares quiche, scones, muffins, cinnamon buns and wedding cakes with the following mantra in mind: “all fresh, all butter, no mixes.” The market offers a rotating selection of seasonal, ready-to-eat foods, like apricot-glazed Atlantic salmon, couscous-feta salad and bayoldi ribbon vegetables. Then, of course, there's the catering — La Cuisine has catered everything from quiet family gatherings (check out their “Beast of a Feast” Thanksgiving options) to youth rallies with the Pope. And now, La Cuisine is the operator of the newly-reopened Mory's on York Street, adding to their ever-expanding family of businesses. When you're the best, you just have to keep on growing.
