Gay marriage advocates scored a major win last week, when several U.S. states and parts of Europe passed gay marriage initiatives. Not everyone was pleased with these developments, however. The Vatican is digging in on its anti-gay marriage stance. From the AP:
In a front-page article in Saturday's Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano, the Holy See sought to frame itself as the lone voice of courage in opposing initiatives to give same-sex couples legal recognition. In a separate Vatican Radio editorial, the pope's spokesman asked sarcastically why gay marriage proponents don't now push for legal recognition for polygamous couples as well.
Is there any other group that so blatantly ignores the wishes of its leader? Jesus's whole deal was about helping society's underprivileged and loving thy neighbor. But all the Vatican ever does is tell people what they're doing wrong. If a bunch of Donald trump fans started a religion, then told their followers to be humble, have great hair and live in a socialist commune, they would still be closer to the vision of their idol than the Vatican.
