The Pope Retires
Pope Benedict XVI has unexpectedly resigned, citing “advanced age” as the reason. Benedict, who is 85 years old, is the first Pope to retire in nearly 600 years. He blamed his deteriorating body and mind for the decision, leading many to believe that the Pope has a newly-developed medical condition such as Alzheimer’s or dementia. The Vatican promises to have a new Pope in place by Easter. No word on whether we’ll have a substitute Pope for 2 months, or if Lent will be canceled. From CNN:
