The Boy Scouts have always stated that they’ve done everything they can to suss out and report pedophiles within their ranks. But oh wait, turns out there might be a bunch of unreported offenders between the years 1965-1985. Luckily the Scouts are about to start giving their internal investigations 110%, thanks to a court mandate ordering that activity within the Scouts during those years be thoroughly reviewed. From CBS:
A court-ordered release of the perversion files from 1965 to 1985 is expected sometime in October. That has prompted Scouts spokesman Deron Smith to say the organization will go back into the files and report any offenders who may have fallen through the cracks.
If you ask me, this is being blown way out of proportion. People act like the boy scouts were protecting pedophiles all those years, but really, they just hadn't gotten to that merit badge yet. Turning in pedophiles is an Eagle Scout task. First you have to do archery and Pinewood Derby. There's an order to these things. What's next, putting regatta before knot-tying? Think, people!
