The Internet has always been the go-to source to see videos of people dumping milk on their head or read staunch opinions from uneducated idiots. Now it’s quickly becoming the go-to source for news. Italy already relies more heavily on the Internet than television for its new, and the rest of the world is rapidly following suit. Don’t believe me? Internet users already rely more on the network than newspapers and magazines for their national news. Now the net is also on the verge of overtaking television, according to research.
That's probably because the Internet beats TV in every way imaginable. Instead of sitting through some dude in a windbreaker telling you that the weather will be exactly the same as yesterday, or some giggly chick telling you about a local puppy who's a hero, or a commercial for Jim Smith Kia, you quickly get the information you're looking for and you can go back about your business. You're in and out in 90 seconds, like Patrick Swayze pulling a bank heist in "Point Break." Or, if you want to really delve into the seedy underbelly of the story, like Patrick Swayze in "Roadhouse," that's your prerogative. How you absorb and process the information is entirely on your terms. You aren't beholden to the ideas or timeline of some news producer. You can do whatever your heart desires, like Patrick Swayze in "Ghost." That's why the Internet beats TV hands down. TV tries to tell you what Patrick Swayze you are, but with the Internet, you can be any Patrick Swayze you want to be.
