Nick and Wendy Lowe. (January 11, 2013) |
The thing about weddings is, they’re all the same. Once in awhile you get a destination wedding, or somebody lets their friend’s band play the reception, or someone’s grandfather gets too drunk and starts yelling racist slurs about the Japanese, but for the most part weddings are interchangeable ceremonies with slightly different floral arrangements.* Nick and Wendy Lowe of New Zealand are doing their best to change that, however. From stuff.nz:
It was a wedding like any other, except that the bride and groom, as well as half the guests, were naked.
More than 120 attended the wedding, about half of them wearing clothing, while others watched on completely naked, except for hats sheltering their faces from the searing sunshine.
Lowe said being a naturist was the biggest part of his life, so it was natural for the pair to marry that way. Some invited guests declined their invitation, many more arrived in whatever they felt comfortable in, he said.
The couple looks decent for their age -- I'm guessing they're mid-40s at least -- so what the hell. The best part of this wedding is how they strategically posed behind flowers and other items for the pictures. They're comfortable enough to go naked for an entire evening, but in the back of their head they're thinking, "one day our kids are going to ask to see the photos." So you get a bunch of pictures of a nude couple, except the woman is holding two champagne glasses over her breasts and the guy's junk is hidden behind a lily orchid. These two are like an X-rated Wilson from "Home Improvement."
[*They’re still fun, though.]
