Is it possible that one out of every 50 schoolchildren suffers from autism? That is the finding of a controversial new study by the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention. From the AP:
Health officials say the new number doesn't mean autism is occurring more often. But it does suggest that doctors are diagnosing autism more frequently, especially in children with milder problems.
Word to the wise, never visit a pediatrician with a Boston accent. I still can’t tell whether he thinks my daughter is artistic or autistic. Either way it sounds like she’s going to be living at home for a longgg time.
