Rasmussen

Rasmussen

Sometimes polls are funny.

According to the latest Rasmussen poll of national voters, Newt Gingrich is up by 35 percent while his closest rival, former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney, is at 28 percent. That's not too far off from where they finished in South Carolina, where the former House Speaker beat Romney at 41 percent (Mitt had 27).

That's not the funny part.

The funny part of this latest Rasmussen poll (which typically skews to the right by the way) is that a vast majority of Republicans (68 percent) believe that Gingrich, the only House Speaker to ever resign in disgrace due to violations of House ethics, is at least as ethical as any other Republican.

I'm not really sure how to read that so I just laughed.

The other funny thing in this national poll is that a full third of Republican voters wouldn't mind at all if there was another Republican candidate running in the presidential primary -- you know, someone other than an asshole, a corporate raider, a religious fanatic and a Confederate winger.

Like I said, funny.
