Since Anne Marie Slaughter's recent article in "The Atlantic," questioning why women can't "have it all," there has been an expected rush of commentary on this always-hot issue. Can women have it all? Should they? And what is it "all" anyway?
Yesterday's Financial Times column by Lucy Kellaway is an excellent - and no nonsense - take on the matter, suggesting that, perhaps, there is no right answer to the question.
"In a way, it is boring and pointless to be having these discussions all over again. Yet I understand why we haven't found satisfactory answers. It's because there aren't any. There is no best way of combining motherhood and jobs."
