Who would have thought that the European Union/U.S. trade deal could be critical to the fight against Monsanto and GMO-foods in this country.
Check out this Guardian story about that exact possibility, a development that would be fueled by European distaste for genetically modified organisms and the U.S. way of regulating food.
One of the most shocking statistics in the articles was this: Since 1995, the era when Monsanto and two other agri-giants have dominated the international seed market, "the average cost of planting an acre of soybeans has rising 325 percent..."
So much for the supposed cost benefits of GMO crops.
