East Haven Mayor Joe "Taco" Maturo
Looks like there are still enough East Haven supporters of Mayor "Taco" Maturo and Police Chief Len Gallo to fill a room.
The police commission voted unanimously to recommend that Maturo fire his old buddy Gallo rather than let him retire in the midst of an ongoing federal criminal investigation of police brutality and racial profiling. The crowd of Maturo and Gallo supporters didn't like it a bit.
At stake is more than $100,000 in unused vacation and sick time. If Gallo, aka "Co-Conspirator 1" in federal court documents, is allowed to carry out his retirement plan he can get that money. If he's fired, he won't.
