Here’s an interesting item on the agenda of Friday’s Republican State Convention: “The Second Amendment (Re)Born.” It’s a morning workshop for delegates put on by the right-wing CATO Institute about federal and state gun laws.
One of the Institute’s more recent studies was how private gun ownership in the good ol’ U.S.A. helps reduce crime and save lives. Interesting timing, considering the controversy over that little shooting incident in Florida that ended with Trayvon Martin dead on the ground.
Do you suppose Connecticut Republicans will be pushing for this state to ease up on its gun control laws?
This state’s GOP didn’t do so hot in the “Republican Year” of 2010 (no wins in any statewide or congressional race), so maybe they’re looking to change their strategy.
Yup, a hard right turn toward red-state values in one of the politically bluest states in the nation should really help them out.
