As if the tragedy itself wasn't horrible enough, now it seems some scum-sucking con artists are trying to make a little money off the murder of those Newtown school kids.

The Connecticut Better Business Bureau is warning people not to fall for phoney charity solicitation calls, emails or social media requests from people claiming to ask for donations to funds to help the victims' families.

Bureau officials say similar scams were used after the Colorado theater shootings and natural disasters such as hurricanes, and now they have reports that folks in this state may be getting those kinds of appeals. Here's the full text of the BBB release.

If you want to make donations, the BBB is urging you to send your money to a joint program of the United Way and Newtown Savings Bank at the following address:

Sandy Hook School Support Fund
