Alright, ladies, it's hard not to love a cartoon poptart cat with a rainbow tail/poop trail who flies through space, right? (It's even harder when your real-life cat son resembles the guy!) And that song! Let us not forget the glorious, melodious, effervescent song on endless repeat in our brains.
I admit it, I'm obsessed with Nyan Cat. Shamelessly so. So of course I squeed a little when I stumbled upon a ninja version of the non-stop Nyan Cat, and realized there is a plethora of non-stop Nyan Cats to choose from.
Unlike the few-minute-long YouTube clip, non-stop Nyan Cat is exactly what it sounds like. You watch an endless loop of the feline soaring through space, and the site calculates your seconds listened (tolerance?), and then allows you to tweet your score for bragging rights. I find it incredibly easy to listen to for at least an hour, and I figure some people might think that makes me certifiably crazy. Whatever!
Anyway, my favorite incarnations of the toaster pastry feline include Nyaninja, which has Nyan dressed as a ninja, with throwing stars in place of actual stars; Non-Stop Gameboy Cat, in which Nyan's body is an old school Game Boy and the music has been deliciously scrunched into 8-bit familiarity; Tac Nayn! Eater of Souls flies backwards through a red field, with flying skulls for stars, a waffle for a torso and the menacing sounds of the original song played backwards with a little added freakiness; and my favorite of all, Non-Stop Jackson 5 Nyan: the cat's sportin' a sick afro and the song is set to the instrumental parts of the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back." A combination of two of my very favorite things, together at last. Is there any doubt in your mind that these two songs weren't meant to be together forever?
Seriously, how did we waste time on the Internet before Nyan Cat?
