If you're at all interested in the fate of the New Haven Register and the people who work there and the future of journalism, you should read this piece by a columnist for Britain's Guardian newspaper.
The Register is owned by the Journal Register Company, which is now in bankruptcy for a second time, a move apparently designed to "shed" the company of some of its financial obligations. Such as pensions.
(Of course, I have a personal stake in all this. I was a New Haven Register employee for a long time, a relationship that ended several years ago during one of the newspaper's many rounds of cost-cutting.)
