POSITION:      Producer/ News Writer         
   
DEPARTMENT:      News   

REPORTS TO:      Assistant News Director

ROLE:  Produce a creative, non-stop newscast using all the resources that the FOX CT’s full HD studios have to offer. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Produce creative newscast determining story selection and stacking
•    Write copy for one hour newscasts and assign copy to associate producers and anchors
•    Be well informed about current events;  read newspapers, follow Twitter, Facebook and social media daily
•    Accurately time the newscast
•    Coordinate editing of stories and special projects
•    Print scripts
•    Select sound bites and video for use in news stories and on-line
•    Suggest and produce franchise reports and sweeps stories
•    Read newspapers, competitive websites and follow social media daily
•    Work with Anchors, Weather, and Sports teams
•    Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
•    Ability to write clear, compelling broadcast copy
